We’re all dealing with the uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 virus. Contractors are concerned about the effects it is having, or potentially will have, on the spring season and their business in general. Service Canada:

Service Canada has updated their website re EI benefits, EI sickness benefits, Emergency Care Benefits, GST Credit, and Child Tax Credit. Please Click HERE for the details.

Business Credit Availability Program:

The Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP) will allow the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and Export Development Canada (EDC) to provide more than $10 billion of additional support, largely targeted to small and medium-sized businesses. Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS) has developed a great tool to help business owners develop appropriate policies and procedures. For more information click HERE.


Canadian Federation of Independent Business:

Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has developed a hotline anyone can call (member or not) with questions about the virus from the perspective of an employer. Update for Laid Off Workers:

Recently, the Government of Ontario announced it will be supporting laid off workers, those forced into quarantine, and those who need to take care of their children and sick family. Get more details by clicking HERE.


Employment Insurance:

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) are offering Employment Insurance (EI) sickness benefits for up to 15 weeks to those affected by the COVID-19 virus.You can get more detaisl by clicking HERE and HERE.


Landscape Ontario:

Landscape Ontario has also compiled a list of resources for members to access during this challenging period. You can find it by clicking HERE.

The Ministry of Health site is reassuring because it provides detail about the number of tests and cases, including location information.
