ONCE UPON A TIME...

A talented and determined landscaper decided to start his own business. He did great work, had wonderful clients and hired exceptional people. But at the end of the day, he wasn’t making any money. Frustrated and anxious, he didn’t sleep well, spent way more time working than he wanted to, and missed spending time with his family. This was hardly the “happily ever after” he envisioned when he started his business.

Thankfully, this is not the end of the story. But does it sound familiar to you? Painfully familiar?

We understand.

Nextra Consulting was started by Grant and Marla Harrison in order to help other landscape business owners avoid the mistakes, stress, headaches and pain they experienced.

After closing their landscape business (and thereby, saving their sanity and their marriage), Grant spent the next number of years engrossed in learning what makes a business successful. He began sharing that insights and information with business owners and saw the difference it made in their business and their life. And so Nextra Consulting was born.

Nextra Consulting exists to provide navigation, experience and training to landscape business owners. Using Grant’s extensive knowledge, experience, and industry connections and Marla's impressive organization, administrative and baking skills, we seek to reduce the pressure on owners so they can concentrate on what they do best.

To that end, we’ve hired some exceptional people who are just as passionate about helping our clients succeed.

Charolette Cascioli

DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Charolette spent her teenage years working in her dad's landscaping business. She now brings over 20 years of HR experience to our team, including plenty of experience in the landscape industry. When describing her role, she says, "Whether bringing on the right talent, retaining them, or gaining discretionary effort through engagement, employees are a company's biggest asset! I help support that through strategy, programs, best practices and foundational requirements."

Charolette and her husband have three children, and a Beagle named Milo.

Martin Horsman

BUSINESS COACH

Martin has been in the landscape industry for years. His experience in management and operations has given him skills and knowledge about running an efficient operation. He has a desire to help business owners solve their current problems, as well as create effective systems in order to avoid mistakes. Martin is married to Joy and loves to spent time traveling with her - especially to warm locations. He is the proud grandfather of 7 grandkids!

Rachel Leonard

HR ASSISTANT

Rachel is an HR professional who meets the Nextra staffing requirement of loving dogs, but in addition to that, she loves people (also a requirement, though a lesser one).Rachel will be assisting Charolette and comes to us with years of experience in HR. Her knowledge and experience, couples with her genuine desire to put the right people in the right roles, makes her an exceptionally valuable member of our HR team. Rachel loves gardening, reading and spending time with her family (especially her husband Nino).

Scott Maxwell

BUSINESS COACH

Scott's passion for the landscape industry started in high school. He attended the University of Guelph where he graduated from the horticulture program. Since then, he's continued to gain experience and knowledge as he has moved through various roles - from crew leader, to account manager to branch manager and most recently, general manager. His practical experience, industry knowledge and understanding of business will be an enormous asset to our clients. Scott is married to Jamie and they have three children who are all involved in sports, keeping Scott and Jamie busy all year long!

Annette Rossel

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Annette has over 20 years experience in finance and financial leadership. She loves numbers and problem solving your financial concerns, which makes her the perfect person for her role and a valuable resource to our clients, as well as a great addition to our team.

Annette is married to Tony and they have 4 children.
