2020 - A Year in Review at Nextra Consulting

It’s been a great year at Nextra. As with all companies, COVID has had a huge impact on the way we do business, but it has also provided the time and opportunity to enhance our service offerings. 

This year we started a podcast called Nextra Presents…!. Our goal is to provide landscape contractors with great ideas, important information, helpful connections, and updates on what’s happening in our industry. We have been blessed by the wonderful guests and sponsors who have supported us. Our podcast comes out every other Friday. You can subscribe to Nextra Presents…! wherever you listen to podcasts.

We also started the Nextra Network this year. This was in response to the need we saw for additional services like finances, human resources, and health & safety. We also recognized the appeal of a buyers group for smaller contractors, allowing everyone to get the benefit of larger buying power. The Nextra Network has been well received and we look forward to continued growth.

As part of the Nextra Network, we hired Jordan Robertson. He has been a great addition to our team and we know he’ll be a huge asset to our Network members. 

Grant had the opportunity to speak at GISC, Green Trade Expo and SIMA. These were supposed to be in-person events, but all turned out to be virtual events. We are thankful that we live at a time when technology allows us to do that. 

We held a few events this year, making sure that we adhered to COVID protocols at each event. 

  • We held Boost: Build a Better Business in Toronto, sponsored by Jim Pattison Lease. 
  • We held our first ever ICE (Innovation. Conversation. Education) event at Manulift in Stoney Creek with the topic of liquids in snow operations. Due to the success of this event, we’re already planning to do it again in the summer of 2021. 
  • As a follow up to the ICE event, we held an Advanced Liquids Training event at Reliable Care in Mississauga with Pierre-Marc Laforest. 
  • From the response we received from that event, we started a liquids peer group. We’ve already had three meetings and we feel this peer group will be extremely valuable to the participants.
